Synergy in Media, for those that don't know, is an effect cause when media is created based on a different kind of media. For example, a film of a book or a game of a film. Interest in one will increase sales in the other. This means that you get more profit than if you were to release similar products that weren't connected. 1+1=3.
Don't get me wrong, synergy is fine when it happens accidentally. But synergy for synergy's sake is never good. A brilliant story can be ruined simply because those who translate it don't care about the story, they care about the money. I'm sure you can think of many examples.
In short, what I'm saying is that stories should never translate media unless it is done properly.

well there are some good movies based on books, but there are no good movies based on games if someone starts a franchise making a movie/game/book/etc on the same story/subjects usually most of the stuff turns out to be total utter crap (sometimes without the original media).
still what i find even worse are the movie remakes. especially when it's like the second remake like that crappy 'i am legend' film.

Actually more than half of films are based on books or other media. This piece is talking about when they take a popular story from another media simply because they have a ready made audience. You're right, though. Games are yet to be translated flawlessly (though one guilty pleasure of mine is that I like the Silent Hill movie) because few from the old generation really knows how to react to them.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
